Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is unarguably a top of the range fine craft. The oil mogul has a soft spoken nature and mien which belie his steely resolve and tenacity as a businessman and politician. Mbah, as the founder and CEO of Pinnacle Oil & Gas, has for many years been dreaming, visioning, with careful studies and intense planning to bring his company’s story to the crescendo. And that momentous day came last Saturday when he got the attention of Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate his signature investment: the massive ultra-modern purpose-built petroleum products intake, off-take and storage facility in Lagos.

Mbah’s over $1 billion first-of-its-kind offshore subsea petroleum products terminal at the Lekki Free Trade Zone with over one billion litre-capacity that will positively impact the downstream oil and gas industry is Nigeria’s current largest exit point for petroleum products. The feat wasn’t easy as there were moments of doubts, uncertainties, disappointments and frustrations along the tortuous path. But with his kind of mental capacity, energy and verve; he was committed to his goal and pushed forward to the exhilarating end.

That Mbah, a notable opposition party chieftain —the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate in Enugu— could even have the attention of President Buhari who attended the commissioning virtually and was full of praises for the serial entrepreneur, speaks volume about his personality. There’s immense power in big ideas and dreams. His Pinnacle dream was dismissed by critics as overambitious and unrealistic; exactly the same way some cynics dismiss the sheer audacity of his manifesto for Enugu. The affable Mbah hopes that his Pinnacle story would inspire so many others to dare to innovate and carve a niche in their business environment. Just as he bestrides the private sector as a colossus, 50-year old Mbah’s dream is to see poverty headcount as well as infrastructural deficit decrease in the country, particularly his home state of Enugu where he has taken the audacious steps to succeed the incumbent Governor Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
