Serie A club Torino and Ola Aina are close to agreeing to a two-year contract extension to keep the Nigerian defender in Turin until 2025.

Les Transferts reports that Torino have made positive progress in their discussions with the Super Eagles wingback and could announce a done deal soon.

Torino’s top officials are believed to have intensified their discussions with Aina as the club would like to complete the negotiations before the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Aina joined Torino in 2018 from Chelsea initially on a loan deal before the Italians made the deal permanent the following season.

Aina’s current contract expires in June next year, but it is believed that the Nigerian full-back has received a new proposal that will commit him to Torino until June 2025 with a salary increase.

Boasting 29 international caps for three-time African champions Nigeria, Aina is not often short of suitors from Italian and English clubs.

The 25-year-old defender has enjoyed a solid start to the 2022-2023 season, appearing in ten Serie A league games.

Aina scored his first goal of the season and his second in Torino’s colours last weekend in the 2-1 defeat of Udinese.
