Olatoye: ADP gives security agencies 48 hours to fish out killers
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Okwe Obi, Abuja

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has given security agencies 48 hours to fish out the killers of its senatorial candidate for Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Temitope Olatoye, (a.k.a Sugar), who was allegedly shot by thugs on his way home after casting his vote in the March 9 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

The party expressed confidence in getting justice for the deceased if the security agencies in the state conduct a thorough investigation. It vowed to petition the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, if the matter is swept under the carpet.   National Chairman of the party, Yabaji Sani, while addressing journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, sympathised with his family members and prayed that God grants him eternal rest.    Sani said: “We call on the Inspector General of Police, Director General of the DSS and other relevant security agencies to within the next 48 hours order a thorough investigation and bring to book the perpetrators of this dastardly political killing. We are confident of justice in this premeditated day light murder as we rely on the promises made by President Muhammadu Buhari before the elections that all perpetrators of election violence will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“Sugar’s death was one in many others perpetrated by desperate politicians for selfish and ill-motivated interests.

These condemnable acts of killings and the impunity with which they are carried out have appalled Nigerians and members of the international election observers, who have also denounced the killings and irregularities that characterised the elections, especially the March 9 governorship and state House of Assembly elections.”
