FOLLOWING news of Amodu’s demise on Saturday, football lovers, his associates, former players and Nigerians in general have taken to the social media to express their shock and pay tribute to the man who has coached the national more times than any other coach in history.

Below are some of those that twitted:

My hearts bleeds. Shuaibu Amodu gone. Rest in Coach. What is happening to us?

I’m devastated, shocked, and gutted by this. Amodu meant more to me than just my coach.

He made me believe the National team was built around me and if I played well, we will win games.

Amodu gave me so much personal advice about life, was always there to help even if I didn’t talk to him about my issues.

Words can’t put it together, he will be greatly missed. My heart and thoughts are with his family at this terrible time #RIPAmoduShuaibu

THIS WORLD…Amodu spent the last 48 hours working with the Edo state Government on how to accord Keshi a befitting national burial…He got back home in the early hours of this morning and couldn’t sleep, fatigued! He complained about his chest, went into deep sleep (doctors can explain), he never woke up…Adieu, my brother.
