The Chairman of Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Council, Ekiti State, who is also the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, has blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari for the postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections earlier scheduled for Saturday.
He said the action is not only despicable, but shows the level of desperation by the APC and Buhari to cling to power through foul means irrespective of the wishes expressed by the people during the polls.
Speaking through his media aide, Onaopemipo Akinloye in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, Olusola said no matter the plots and intrigues by the party and the president, the will of the people to vote them out of office would surely come to pass.
He alleged that the willingness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to compromise its integrity made INEC to come up with the cock and bull story of inadequate logistics as the reason for the postponement.
“This is an assignment that INEC has four years to prepare for. They were adequately mobilised for the exercise too, why did it take the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, five hours to the start of the elections before announcing the postponement? This came after the INEC assured Nigerians, even until a day to the polls, that all was well.
“Incidentally, Yakubu is a professor of Political History and should know that history is recording everything and that posterity will judge us all for our actions and inactions.
” Now that sensitive materials have been sent to the fields in many states, what become of them? Will the sanctity of such items remain the same? What about our youths in the NYSC scheme that have been exposed to hardship for no reason? They slept in the open Friday night and will repeat same next week,” he said.
Olusola added that the action of INEC in postponing the elections was determined by Buhari’s statement on CNN that nobody could unseat him.
“That is a statement made in self delusion. Let Buhari continue to delude himself that nobody can unseat him. Was he the one that put himself on the seat? When the time comes, he will be shown the exit door courtesy the votes of Nigerians.
“If  there had not been memorandum of understanding between INEC and the security  / APC to return President Buhari to power,  the man – made logistic problems would not arise.
“You can imagine the killing of 66 people in Kaduna State, the headquarters of body bag threat. Is that not meant to scare people from voting so that they could rig the election.
“In Anambra State, thousands of card reader machines were burnt. Likewise in Plateau where thousands of  PVCs were burnt. Are there no police, army or DSS detailed to safeguard these places.?
Olusola said that Nigerian people were tired and fed up with the lifeless government of the APC, and were fully determined to replace it with a living government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He urged voters across the country not to lose hope and be discouraged, but to still come out in large numbers to vote out Buhari and the APC on the rescheduled dates of voting.
