Factional Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Malachi Coker and his deputy, Ayo Arowele, may have gone into hiding, following alleged attempts to attack them.

Also, the other nine lawmakers loyal to Coker’s leadership, were said to have vacated their homes for alleged fear of being attack.

Daily Sun gathered that lawmakers in Coker’s faction have relocated to unknown places outside the state alongside members of their families.

Crisis had erupted in the assembly since the impeachment of speaker Jumoke Akindele and her deputy, Fatai Olotu following allegations of fraud levelled against them.

The crisis has also led to the polarisation of the House as two persons now lay claim to the speakership of the Assembly.

Both the Akindele and Coker’s factions have vacated the assembly complex following closure of the House by the police.

Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had allegedly ordered the police to seal off the assembly complex pending the time peace will return to the House.

It was, however, gathered that lawmakers loyal to Coker may remain in their hideout until a new administration is inaugurated on February 24.

It was speculated that members of Coker’s faction are loyal to the governor-elect, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, whose administration will be inaugurated on February 24, while members of Akindele’s faction are loyal to out-going Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
