Ondo State Government has promoted about 14,016 public servants in its employ, between 2017 and 2018.

The government said 6,941 workers were promoted in 2017, while 14,016 were promoted this year.
Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Afolabi Adewakun, while addressing a press conference in Akure, yesterday, said since the inception of the current administration in 2017, Akeredolu has been prioritising the welfare of workers in the state’s public service.

He said the development has also led to better service delivery for the citizenry.

Dr Adewakun said promotion exercise for senior officers, between GL 07 and 17, was handled directly by the commission, with 1,742 officers promoted this year, based on the briefs forwarded to the commission by the head of service (HoS) and other relevant agencies of government.

Besides, he said another 5,333 junior officers, through self-accounting agencies, boards and government parastatals, were promoted, stressing that 7,075 workers were promoted in 2018.

According to him, over the years, the civil service commission used the annual promotion exercise to enlighten the public on its mandate as enshrined in the1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The chairman congratulated the newly-promoted officers, stressing that the promotion calls for more dedication, diligence and responsibility and urged workers to remain loyal, disciplined and continuously add value as parts of measures to reciprocate the good gesture of the state government.
