§one person has been arrested in connection with the kidnap of the Registrar of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Council of the state, Collins Onyenewu.
Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the arrest, said operatives were on the trail of other suspects who were still holding on to the victim.
Aniamaka said the victim’s vehicle which was abandoned has been recovered.
Gunmen had on Saturday evening reportedly kidnapped the Registrar along Ugiliamai/Onitcha-Ukwani Road, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
Onyenwenu was driving in his official car when he was intercepted by the gun wielding men who abandoned the said official vehicle at the scene of operation.
He was reportedly dragged out of his car and hauled into a get away vehicle before the abductors zoomed off to unknown destination.
The hostage takers have not made contact to make any demand.
