There were fears that one yet to be identified man was burnt to death and six persons injured when fire gutted a building suspected to belong to  Providus Bank under construction at Adeola Odeku Street on Victoria Island Lagos.

According to information provided by few bystanders at the said area, the fire inferno was caused by a generator explosion reportedly being worked on by four people.

Daily Sun gathered that the fuel tank of the diesel generator exploded and caused Automated Gas Oil (AGO) to spill from the generator house to other parts of the property beside Keystone Bank.

A car belonging to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) was also burnt outside the building while six persons especially a Policeman attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) was injured by broken glasses while escaping from his patrol vehicle that caught fire.

According to Lagos Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, all six burns victims were on admission at the hospital and under observation, while the policeman who sustained minor injury had received first aid treatment.

He said the deceased person was burnt beyond recognition, adding that the police patrol vehicle was also badly affected.

However, the RRS had in a tweet seen by Daily Sun, revealed that lives had been lost in the inferno.
