FC Midtjylland of Denmark striker, Paul Onuachu has disclosed that he was not shocked to see his name in the Super Eagles’ list of invitees announced on Monday, because he had already been briefed about the development ahead of time by the coach, Gernot Rohr.
Sports247.ng gathered that Rohr called Onuachu up long ago to sound the lad out on his availability for the Nigerian national team, and the FC Ebedei of Sagamu product said he did not hesitate to say ‘YES.’
Though there had been initial speculation about him switching national team allegiance to star for Denmark, Onuachu, who is Nigeria’s leading scorer abroad, with 14 goals from 21 games so far this season, said he was quick to accept Rohr’s offer, because it was what he dreamed off.
The youngster, who follows in the footsteps of Sylvester Igbonu and Uzonna Uzochukwu as the next player groomed at Midtjylland to get an Eagles’ invitation, said he had always dreamed of playing for Nigeria.
Onuachu, who is also famous for a cracking goal he scored in the Europa League against Manchester United some years back, added that he is glad to finally get a Nigeria call since moving to Denmark in 2012.
