Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has warned against the politicisation of the recent crisis in Ile-Ife.

Oba Ogunwusi was addressing members of the Yoruba Socio Cultural Group, Afenifere, when they paid a condolence visit to the Ooni palace in Ile-Ife.

The foremost monarch argued that the visit of political parties and politicians to Sabo, the spot of the mayhem in the ancient city, was very suspicious and an attempt to create a political drama round the crisis.

He noted that before the imbroglio, such array and frequency of politicians was not the feature of the ever busy Sabo area.

Oba Ogunwusi described Yoruba as very accommodating people as indicated in the religious harmony experienced in the region, which was second to none in the world.

He therefore appealed to Nigerians to learn to be patient and tolerate one another for the peace and progress of the nation.

Earlier, the leader of the Afenifere team, Chief Ayo Adebanjo had commiserated with the whole community and cautioned against reading ethnic meaning into the crisis.

Chief Adebanjo, however, expressed displeasure over what he described  as the police role in festering the crisis.
