The organisers of the Ogun Women Run 2022, Brussel Sports Management Limited, have paid the total prize money to all the winners at the 5km Run held at the Ogun State capital, Abeokuta.

The eventual champion of the Women’s Run, Olude Kehinde, got a cash prize of N500,000 for her effort. Yemisi Ephraim, who placed second, got a cash prize of N300,000 and Adekun Olayemi Mercy got a cash prize of N200,000 for placing third.

The Managing Director of Brussel Sports Management Limited, Mr Oluseyi Johnson, stated on Tuesday in Lagos, that, aside from the three major cash prizes, all the other consolation prizes had been paid to all the winners.

He stressed that the payments of all the cash prizes opened the road for the beginning of a full planning process ahead of the second edition of the Ogun Women Run which has been scheduled to hold on June 3rd 2023.

He said: “The 2023 edition will be bigger and better than the first edition. We hope to add some more interesting activities that will make the Run more attractive for Nigerian runners to compete.

In the 2022 edition, we had one thousand runners that competed for honours. Still, we have mapped out plans to make it bigger with more participants and activities that will attract more highly rated and first-class women distance runners such that, the Ogun Women Run will become the best of such races in Nigeria, since the concentration on strictly Nigerian local runners in the 10km Run.”

The 2022 Ogun Women Run was aimed at empowering the women folks in Ogun State across the board not leaving out anyone. And it ensured healthy living for women in the state and also gave women in the state a voice against any form of oppression and abuse.”
