The entertainment industry is a place that has been said to take advantage of ladies from time immemorial. We have heard about several rape and sexual abuse cases, and till date ladies are coming out in their numbers to talk about how they were used and/or molested for a role in a movie or a promise to stardom.
It is appalling because the bulk of those who were taken advantage of never made it to stardom; many of them are either used and dumbed or helped for a while before their helper finds another victim and offer the new catch the same promises offer to the previous victim.
If you look deeply, This charade has been in existence for as long as the industry has been in existence, but still new as the day in a 21st century world.
We had a chitchat with Charlene Egbe , popularly called Mc Charlene about this scenarios and how to avoid them.
“She said, been a lady thriving in male-dominated industry, with a talent that is attributed to mostly male, what I found out is, it is about how you carry yourself”.
“Women will always be drawn to men, it’s part of nature. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Most of these men are mentally immature so they are triggered to use their position as an advantage, but I believe many of them will think twice if they meet a lady who looked like she classes and respects herself.
Many of these men can sense a lady’s vulnerability in how she speaks/beg for a role or how she’s so desperate to become a star at all cost and these vulnerability becomes a loophole they want to explore”.
“It is sad and this is not to say men should not do better, but I believe a lady that has mastered how to carry herself will wade through many of this disgusting set of men’s bullshit.
Some ladies also come with the intentions of seducing these men, thereby encouraging these men. I think it is silly to want to sleep with someone to become a celebrity, because, what then happens when you become a celebrity?
Are you going to see these men and act like nothing ever happened between you two, knowing fully well that men talk? Or you would continue the relationship, knowing there is probability the same person sleeping with other upcoming female entertainer for a role too? If you think about it, it’s all shades of stupidity and I do not think any lady should engage in such behavior.”
