The Eze Ndigbo Mekong River Asia, HRH Eze Uzochukwu Jerome Ezeneche has tasked the new Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali to put an end to insecurity in South East and other parts of Nigeria.

In a statement made available to Daily Sun after crucial meeting with his cabinet and other stakeholders in Thailand, Ezeneche said South East which use to be peaceful is fast degenerating into hot bed of insecurity.

While congratulating the new IGP, Ezeneche said Baba was taking mantle of leadership at a time Nigeria was faced with serious security challenges. he call on him to be alive to his duty by restoring security to South East and other parts of the country.

On how Nigeria can overcome some of its challenges, the royal father who recently won award as Diaspora person of the year 2021 said, the IGP should hit the ground running by evolving policies that would make Nigeria police friendly. He said some of this measure could include change of uniforms and compulsory introduction of body camera for security personnels.

He said this measure is already operational in most developed countries including Lagos, adding that introduction of the measure in Nigeria will curb excesses of security personnel.

While thanking God that peace was gradually returning to his Anambra community where cultists were terrorizing peace loving people of Okija community, Ezeneche said Nigerians look forward to robust performance from the new police chief.

On the implications of insecurity on Nigerians in the Diaspora, Ezeneche said such development could scare investors away from the country.

He appealed to the new IGP to be upright and fair in his dealings adding that Nigerians in the Diaspora are ready to support him to achieve his goals .
