Victor Osimhen’s hat trick was the difference, as the Nigeria U-23 team booked a place for the last stage of the Afcon U-23.

After a sustained pres- sure in the opening 20 minutes, the Nigerian U-23 team finally got the opener through Victor Osimhen in the 32nd minutes of the game against the Libyans, who came to defend their advantage.

With six changes, including four additions from the main Super Eagles, coach Imama Amapakabo tried to make up for the disappointing first leg result, as the combination of Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali held the midfield firm.

Early attempt in the 13th minute by Osimhen rattled the Libyan goalkeeper, Abdullah Abdulrahman, but the resultant effort went off target.

Anumudu Ndubuisi had his perfectly taken freekick denied by the upright in the 18th minute.

The second half started like fashion, with the U-23 taking the battle to the Libyans. And it was Osimhen again on the score sheet in the 66th minute for his second of the match to even scores 2-2 on aggregate.

After the goal, the Libyans came out fighting and created some anxious moments for the Nigerian team, but were again punished by Osimhen for their foray upfront with his third goal on 82nd minute.

Substitute David Okereke put the icing on the cake for the Nigerians with the fourth goal in added time to make it 4-0.
