Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and 24 state governors are billed for Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, North West Nigeria, to commission the N10 billion WACOT Rice Mill.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu confirmed Osinbajo and other governor’s visit when the management of WACOT paid him courtesy visit last week.

Osinbajo is expected to commission the Rice company at Argungu town with a capacity of 400 metric tonnes of rice per day.

Confirming the coming of the Acting President and 24 governors’ visit, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Barr. Attairu Maccido said the visitors would be hosted at Presidential Lodge with restricted invitations.

When Daily Sun visited Presidential Lodge, on Monday afternoon, the surroundings and interior had been decorated and tidings up with security surrounding the Lodge.

Daily Sun observed that major roads linking to Emir’s place, airport and Government House are man by armful looking security agencies.

It would recalled that Chairman of WACOT, Alhaji Bashari Aminu, the Iyan Zazzau, had disclosed that the company came to the state to answer Federal Government’s call to produce and consume made-in-Nigeria rice instead of imported one.”

He disclosed that WACOT investment in Kebbi State would be expanded to N10 billion with 400 metrics tonnes production per day plus 1,000 workers while 95 percent will be Kebbi state indigenes.

The company, which he said had branches in 13 African countries, the Middle Belt and Asian countries, when fully expanded, would generate its independent energy and supply 250 villages in 14 local government areas of the state.
