Ohanaeze Media Forum(OMF),the umbrella body of Igbo journalists in the print and electronic media in Lagos State have said that the All Progressives Congress(APC), Senatorial Candidate for Imo West in the forthcoming election, Senator Osita Izunaso is the race to continue with his service to Orlu People and humanity.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the chairman of the organization, Peter Anosike said that while others see politics as an avenue to become financially successful, Izunaso sees it as an avenue to serve his people and humanity.
According to him, those who have followed Izunaso’s Kpakpando Foundation should know that he is not like our average politicians who see politics as the quickest route to wealth or fame.
He said that though Izunaso has been out of elective office for some time now, his foundation has continued to put smiles on the faces of the ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking further, Anosike said that the measure of success that somebody attains in the private sector is what would determine whether he would do well in public sector , adding that Izunaso has done well in the private sector, therefore public life would just be an opportunity to do more.
In his contribution, the Secretary of the organization, Ngozi Emedoluibe said that though Ohanaeze Media Forum is apolitical, it will always project those who have been doing well in the society, no matter the political platform they are in.
According to her, the role of the media is to educate, entertain and inform and as such telling a people that this is the person that has the capacity to solve their problems, going by the person’s track record is not out of place.
She said that the track record of Senator Izunaso shows that he is a man to be trusted and that when that happens, he would not disappoint.
“As a body, we have reflected over the quality of leadership and representation that our people the Igbo are getting and we are not happy about it. So, instead of resigning to fate or to be complaining about poor leadership, we felt that it is high time we began to project those who we feel would do well if elected. The reason is because our people deserve better representation than we are getting now and Osita Izunaso is one of the candidates that we strongly feel would not disappoint if elected. Our reason is based on the fact that he is God fearing, he has heart of gold and he is development conscious.”Emedoluibe said
