It appears the political narratives in Osun State has finally changed with the Tiwa N Tiwa L’Osun’s insistence that the next governor can come from Osogbo, the state capital, against the perception that it is the birth right of the western senatorial district.
When the Tiwa N Tiwa L’Osun, a socio-political movement spearheaded the “Osogbo l’okan” (it is the turn of Osogbo to produce governor) crusade, not a few political watchers viewed the action as a mere waste of time because of the belief in the unwritten power shift arrangement.
But when the principal subject of the movement, Kunle Abdul-Raheed Adegoke, a lawyer, and rights activist continued to show reasons for the state capital to benefit from the gubernatorial largesse, the awareness seems to be sinking into the sub-consciousness of the populace including all the doubting Thomases.
Part of the argument is that, the state truly has three senatorial districts with two legs each. While the West is said to consist Ede and Iwo zones, the East has Ife, Ijesha zones and the Central has Osogbo and Ila/Okuku/Ikirun zones.
In the East, Rauf Aregbesola is the third governor from the zone after Odeleye Fadaunsi and Bola Ige. Ife axis, according to the record produced the first most powerful governor in the person of Oba Adesoji Aderemi, Ooni of Ife, who could remove the Premier with just a stroke of the pen according to his whims and caprices.
From the central zone, Ila and Okuku have had their bites of the gubernatorial pie with Adebisi Akande (Ila) and Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Okuku), while from the West came the first civilian governor, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
With the forgoing, only Iwo leg of the West and Osogbo leg of the Central have not had the taste of the gubernatorial cake.  As it is now, the gubernatorial coast in the state indicates that, the contest for the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is between Adegoke and others.
Daily Sun gathered this must have informed the resolve of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adeolu Durotoye, another indigene of Osogbo, to enter the contest. Durotoye dumped APC for PDP. He is a professor of Political Science and the provost of Social and Management Sciences at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
He is also not a little fry in politics. With the springing up of Durotoye, two things readily come to mind. One, it is a testimony that Osogbo is not in short supply of materials to succeed Aregbesola. Two, it is undoubtedly that, K-RAD bug, vis-à-vis Osogbo’s turn, is not only catching up with other Osogbo indigenes,  it is also spreading across the country and beyond like harmattan fire in the desert.
It would not be a surprise if tomorrow the Iwo axis of the west comes out strongly to state its own side of the story. What remains crystal clear is that there is no dearth of equally qualified materials for the coveted position from Iwo axis.
The axis can boast of the current Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti and the Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Alhaji Semiu Okanlawon, both from the APC and former Special Adviser on Media to former Minister of Youth Development, Mallam Rasheed Olawale from the PDP.
