Oluseye Ojo, Ilesa
The Onifofin of Ifofin, Chief Ezekiel Daramola, has commended the governorship poll held in Ilesa, Osun State.
In an interview with Sunday Sun, he stated that it was the first time election would be so peaceful in Ifofin, Ogbon-Orogbo and in other parts of Ilesa, based on reports he received from other parts of Ilesa.
He said the community has not had it so good as an attempt was made during the 2014 governorship poll to steal ballot boxes, but was vehemently resisted by the community. He further noted that June 12, 1993 presidential poll was the last time election was so peaceful in the area.
”We have never had it so good in this community. The last time we had an election that was so peaceful like this was June 12, 1993.
“I have seen supporters of different political parties embracing one another and exchanging pleasantries.
”Whoever among the candidates that eventually emerged as the winner should have a large heart to accommodate others.
”But we need a modern palace for Onifofin, boreholes and fixing of some roads awaiting government’s attention. The outgoing administration in the state has executed some projects in this community. But we need more projects.”
Meanwhile, the results of the election at the polling unit, however, threw the people in the area into wide jubilation.
A group of youths, the Traditional Drummers showed their excitement by dancing and doing merry making at the wars of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
