President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, disclosed that the federal government has executed over 40 impactful projects worth over N8billion at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), Benue State between 1999 and 2022.

The President who disclosed this during the commissioning of Tertiary Education Trust Funds (TETFund) sponsored projects at the University on Thursday, said the e projects were intervention efforts of the federal government under TETFund.

Represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Tertiary Education and Services, Aminu Suleiman, President Buhari said, “The Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), Benue State has not been exempted from these intervention efforts of TETFund as over 40 impactful projects worth over N8 billion have been executed in the university since 1999.

He added that in addition to the Fund, TETFund has also sponsored 197 lecturers from the university for Ph.D degrees, 85 for Masters Degrees and 13 scholars on bench work to the tune of over N1.7 Billion while 430 staff have been sponsored for conferences at the cost of over N200 Million.

“Today, in continuation of the transformational strides of the Fund, we are about to witness the commissioning of four iconic projects sponsored by the Fund.”

He listed the projects to include Laboratory/Workshop Block for Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the 2018 Zonal Intervention, Female Students Hostel of the 2019/2020 (merged) Annual Intervention, Male Students Hostel of the 2019/2020 (merged) Annual Intervention as well as the Academic Office Building for College of Agronomy of the 2021 Annual Intervention.
