Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has assured the newly elected Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Olubunmi Adelugba, of his support.
The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday, in Ado-Ekiti, when the Assembly presented the new speaker to him and other members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the sixteen local government areas of the State, in the presence of the 17 out of 25 members who impeached the Speaker, Hon Gboyega Aribisogan.
The governor applauded the leaders of the APC for their swift response and resolving the issue at the appropriate  time.
He described the crisis “as a family affair and one of the beauty of democracy,” denying insinuations in some quarters about his involvement in the crisis.
The governor appreciated the lawmakers saying, “You have justified the confidence your various constituencies reposed in you, by doing the right thing at the appropriate time.”
Oyebanji while assuring of his support reminded the new speaker of the need for a speedy passage of the 2023 budget
Presenting the new speaker, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Akeem Jamiu, described the crisis that broke out in the House in the last few days as an embarrassment not only to the members of the APC, but to the people of Ekiti State.
He said the House has corrected what he called the anormally, however, gave an assurance that the House under the new leadership would continue to maintain peace as well align with its constitutional duties.
The new Speaker, appreciated all the  members of the House and other party executives on her emergence.
She described the process that led to her emergence as peaceful, and promised to always maintain allegiance to the people of the State.
In his remarks, the state APC Chairman, Barr. Paul Omotosho, distanced the party from the crisis that has paralysed activities in the House in the last few days.
Omotosho said, “the party does not have interest in who becomes the leader of the House, all what the party wants is peace and how the State will move forward.”
The event held at the Governor’s office was attended by the APC State executives, local governments Chairmen, the Deputy Governor, Mrs Monisade Afuye, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. (Mrs) Abibat Adubiaro, Special Advisers to the Governor, including Chief Jide Awe, among others.
Meanwhile a new set of principal officers have emerged in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, following the emergence of a new speaker.
The principal officers are  : Rt.Hon. Hakeem Jamiu who retained his position as Deputy Speaker while Hon. Johnson Oyekola Bode Adeoye is the new Leader of Government Business.
A statement by R Adelugba in Ado Ekiti listed Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye as Chief Whip, Deputy Leader, Hon. Abiodun Fawekun while Hon. Ayodeji Ajayi is the Deputy Chief Whip.
The appointment is with immediate effect.
