The National Transport Technology Conference and Exhibition held recently in Lagos, was wound up with a recognition ceremony during which the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps {FRSC}, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, was honoured with a ‘Safety and Sustainability Icon Award.’  

The two-day conference was organised at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island by the Nigeria Transport Commissioners’ Forum in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, under the theme Multimodality And Interconnectivity: Achieving An Efficient and Greener Transport System in Nigeria.

At the awards night, the citation read on Dr. Oyeyemi, described him as a seasoned administrator whose contributions to the promotion of road safety and national development has earned him several awards and recognitions.

The organisers also observed that the FRSC Corps Marshal has various publications on road safety administration and numerous unpublished works to his credit.

Part of the citation read: “He hails from Odo Owa in Oke Ero Local Government Area, Kwara State. He holds a Doctorate degree in Public Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) 2017. He is an Alumnus of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS 2011) and Royal Institute for Public Administration (RIPA 2014), London.

“In addition, he holds a certificate in Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies from Havard University, School of Government (2010), Boston, United States of America ,among others.

“He is a Member and Fellow of several Nigerian and International professional bodies among which are: Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) (Chartered); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA); Fellow, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM); and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).”

Oyeyemi is also a Fellow, Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants (IMC); Fellow Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (IOTA) and is also a member of International Association of Chiefs of Police, USA and a US trained Arms Instructor.

It was also recognised that Oyeyemi’s contributions to national development have “earned him several awards and recognitions among which are Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), 2006; National Productivity Order of Merit Award (NPoM), 2015 and Leadership Public Service Officer of the Year Award, 2015. Internationally, he was named Biographical Man of the Year 2012 by the American Biographical Institute.

He has various publications on road safety administration and numerous unpublished works to his credit.

Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi, MFR, mni, NPoM plays tennis and golf. He enjoys traveling, reading and research works. He is happily married to Bolanle Oluyemisi Oyeyemi and they are blessed with three children. “
