A football team owned and sponsored by the lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has lifted the trophy of the football tournament organised to celebrate Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s 61st birthday.
The football competition which was keenly contested by football clubs representing all Local governments across Ijesha land was sponsored by the Chairmen of the concerned local government areas and powered by notable individuals in the area.
The final match of the Football competition which ended 3-1 in favour of Hon. Bosun Oyintiloye Football Club from Obokun Local Government after a full time of 90 minutes in a tesion soaked encounter with Hon. Nurudeen Football Club from Ilesa-west Local Government
The Governor of Osun state Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in which the football was organised in his honour described the tournament as exciting, entertaining and impressive.
Presenting the trophy and medals to Oyintiloye FC, and other participants, Governor Aregbesola who was flanked by Honourable Oyintiloye and the his team eulogised the sponsors for their commitment to youth development in the state and constituency.
Governor Aregbesola who commended the participating teams for their commitment to the promotion of sports said Oyintiloye FC and it’s counterpart Honourable Nurudeen football club that contested in the final exhibited the required commitment to victory and that they have shown promise for bigger laurel in the future.
The state helmsman encourage Hon. Oyintiloye and others not to rest on their oars but reach for higher performance.
Like the final stage of any football tournament began on a lighter mood was heated up in the first half when Hon. Nurudeen FC scored in the first half to take the lead against Oyintiloye FC before Shakiru Adekunle responded with a nice shot to balance the game before the end of the half time.
The second half which played host to notable dignitaries like the governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the patron of Oyintiloye FC who is also the lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency was where the Obokun team took the lead by firing two goals into the net of their opponent. The first was a penalty kick while Shakiru Adekunle again fired in an impressive goal to make it three goals against their opponent’s one.
In a reaction, after the match, Hon. Oyintiloye who was full of gratitude explained that his side had demonstrated that through hard work and team spirit, success was attainable in any endeavour.
Oyintiloye who said his sponsorship of the team is a demonstration of his commitment to Community development through sporting activities, stressed that he is inspired by the feat of his aide to continue in activities that will lead to skill and talent development especially at the grassroots.
One of the organisers of the competition, Hon. Babatunde Ayeni Football Foundation expressed satisfaction at the tournament describing the participants as brilliants youths who deserved to be encouraged to reach greater heights.
