Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2019 general elections, Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, has promised that the crisis rocking the party in the state would soon be over.

Pragmatic steps, he said, were being taken to broker peace with the aggrieved members of the party, especially the governorship aspirants that were crossed about how he emerged as the candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship poll.

Lanlehin, who disclosed this at a reception organised for him at Samonda, in Ibadan, the state capital, said it was imperative for all members of the party to be united ahead of the general elections so that the party would approach the polls with advantages.

The reception was organised for Lanlehin after he returned from the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where he had gone to fill a substitution form to  authenticate his governorship candidature.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of ADC had substituted the name of Dr. Dele Ajadi, earlier submitted to the electoral umpire tentatively as governorship candidate with Lanlehin’s name after it concluded all processes for the exercise.

Lanlehin, who was received by a large crowd at the Ibadan Airport, Alakia, on the day he filled the substitution form, stated at the reception that, “All of us know the importance of government. I am sure that many of the aspirants with whom I am relating and talking with, all of them are experienced politicians and they know the need for unity in order for us to take over the government. We are talking and I assure you that very soon, we will be together.

“This work cannot be done alone. We need to join hands together to do it. It will be for the benefit of all of us when we succeed. We will form the government together.”
