The Oyo State House of Assembly, on Thursday, confirmed the nomination of Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, as chairman of the state’s Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees and six others as members.

Speaking on the floor of the House, the chairman House committee on security, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, said the law on inauguration of the board has been enacted since 2012 and committee on Security has since been inaugurated too but that there were little the committee could do in making it accessible.

According to him, when the scheme was inaugurated, MTN and other service providers donated fund but the funds were not accessed and unused saying, “after their confirmation as chairman and members of the board, the fund will be accessed and be utilised to tackle insecurity in the state.

Corroborating him, Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku, said the nominees were noble and people of integrity in the society and their mission to serve the state in that capacity was a welcome development. He, therefore, urged the House to hasten their confirmation.

Speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Michael Adeyemo, therefore, pronounced the conformation of their nomination after members of the House had given their consent.

Members of the board are: Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, Dr. Falil Ayo Abina, Engr. Femi Odumabo, Chief Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan and Mr. Femi Oyedipe as Executive Secretary.

Speaking after the plenary, Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, who represented the state government on the board, said the board would act in an advisory capacity to assist the state government to tackle insecurity in the state.

He said this was important because there could not be any meaningful development without security of lives and properties.
