Lovers of grassroots football in Ichida, Anocha Local Government Area of Anambra State were on Easter Sunday treated to fine football as United Friends FC of Bayelsa defeated their City Warriors FC of Warri counterpart 2-1 to lift the 2017 edition of Ozalla Moughalu Super Cup.
The keenly contested final game which was decided at Ezeokpu Mini Sports Stadium Ichida attracted eminent personalities  that included HRM (Sir) Charles Ezeudogu, Igwe Ohazulunye of Ichida, the cup donor High Chief Lord Mike Ezedimora, and Chief Tochukwu Nzekwe-the Ezeani Omenife of Ichida. Speaking at the end of the match, the cup donor assured that he would continue to bankroll the grassroots soccer tourney, even as he said his vision is to use football to foster unity in the community. He added that the talents discovered from the tournament would go places in the round leather game.
On his part, HRM (Sir) Charles Ezeudogu was full of Praise for the cup donor for investing in the youths of the community.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of a giant gold trophy alongside cash award to the eventual winners, United Friends of Bayelsa and other consolation prizes given to players and teams that distinguished themselves in the tourney.
