The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has called on Nigerians not to give up at this time the country is facing recession, poverty and hunger. Rather than develop hypertension, he said they should hope in God “who is able to sustain them and provide for them.”

He made the charge after a three-day National Easter Retreat of the church at Deeper Life Conference Centre, Km 42, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibafo, Ogun State, with the theme, “Conquering with the Crucified King.” According to him, Jesus Christ died and rose again and this occurred on a Sunday: “That is why we are remembering Him.

“So, it is a time for us as a country to seek for peace in every sector of the economy and section we find ourselves. Every section of the society should embrace peace so that the nation can move forward. With our faith in the Lord, things will turn around and change for the better.

“I want to encourage everyone that we should hope in God. The economic hardship the country is currently facing will definitely come to an end. People should stop the idea of taking their lives.

“We should not give up, we should not lose hope. People who are taking their lives don’t need to do that because there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.

“When someone takes his or her life before the light breaks, how will he or she enjoy what the Lord is going to do for the nation? I want to encourage everyone to have hope in the Lord because things are going to turn around positively.”

Kumuyi assured Christians and Nigerians at large that the recession and security challenges facing the country would soon be a thing of the past. He urged Nigerians to have dominion:

“Romans 8:14, says we should allow God to lead us in whatever we want to do. We should allow the Spirit of God into our families to lead us. As we cry Abba Father, He will hear, and something wonderful is coming our way.”

He told Nigerians that if they were going to have dominion, they must abide by the word of the Lord: It is abiding that gives the victory that we desire. We cannot wake up one morning and say we are going to have dominion. No, it is by abiding by the word of God, and by doing this we will reign with Christ and escape hardship.”
