From Timothy Olanrewaju, Maiduguri

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressive Congress (APC) have been trading words over alleged attacks on PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during his campaign in Maiduguri Wednesday.

PDP Presidential Campaigns spokesman, Sen Dino Melaye accused the ruling APC of instigating thugs to distrupt its campaign.

“They are afraid of us, they sent their thugs to attack us even along the Shehu’s palace,” Malaye said in both Hausa and English languages.

He also alleged the windscreen of some vehicles used by some party chieftains and supporters were broken BV the thugs.

The APC in its reaction debunked the PDP’s claim, insisting that PDP rally was not attacked by its members or political thugs.

State Chairman of the party, Bukar Dalori said he was disappointed at the PDP over its claim.

“I am disappointed by the allegations made by Dino Melaye that some APC thugs attacked Atiku’s convoy while in Maiduguri for their Presidential Campaign rally,” he said.

He said the state governor has has since banned political thuggery in the state, wondering how PDP would link the APC to alleged attack on the convoy of its presidential candidate.

“We all know that, since Governor Babagana Zulum takes over the mantle of leadership, in his acceptance speech was to Ban all political Thuggery across the state,” he said in a phone reaction.
