The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  yesterday condemned the multiple bomb blasts in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, and the ambush of soldiers in Damboa also in Borno State, by Boko Haram insurgents.

The attacks took place last Saturday and Sunday. The PDP has described the actions as barbaric.

The party, in a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary Prince Dayo  Adeyeye, meanwhile commended the military for its commitment to security of lives and property in the troubled northeast, in the face of threats to the lives of the officers and men fighting the insurgency.

The PDP admonished the Federal Government to stop what it regards as needless “propaganda” on issues  relating to the insurgency in the, and to concentrate on providing all the moral and technical support needed by the military to conclude the war.

While urging the military to remain focused in its fight against radical islamic terror ravaging the north, the opposition party called on Nigerians to rally behind the war effort.

“We commend the Special Operation Unit of our military ‘Operation Lafia Dole’ for their courage and commitment to security of lives and property in the Nort-East irrespective of threat to life of their officers and men in the line of duty. We again commend the military for averting another attack late Sunday, October 30, 2016.

“While we applaud the dexterity of our officers and men in the field, we wish to further advise the All Progressive Congress (APC) led Federal Government to stop the needless and diversionary propaganda on issues of insurgency in the Northeast and rather concentrate more on providing all the moral and technical support needed by the military to end this campaign of terror.

“We call on all Nigerians to continue supporting government at all levels in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency. The battle indeed is not only for security agencies but for all citizens to provide information available to them that will aid government in the fight against terrorism,” the party stated.
