There are strong indications that member representing Jos South/Jos East federal constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Edward Pwojok (SAN), will decamp to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), following pressure from eminent members of his constituency.

Pwajok, who was elected under the banner of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in 2015, was advised to dump the party due to persistent crisis between Sen. Ahmed Makarfi and Sen. Ali Modu-Sheriff over chairmanship of the party.

A press statement issued by a group under the aegis of Youth Progressive Movement at the end of their meeting, in Jos, and signed by Patience Gyang, Jos South and Danladi Ajik, from Jos East local government areas, told the lawmaker that there is no political future in PDP.

The group also frowned at the strained relationship between Hon. Pwajok and Senator Jonah Jang over the imposition of party Executives during the purported party convention in the state.

“We want Hon. Pwajok to decamp to APC because we have come to realize that he has no political future in PDP. The party has failed to learnt a lesson from lack of internal democracy and politics of imposition that led to lost of election in 2015. Today, PDP has two factions in the state and in the national level due to imposition.

“We will take a queue from the South East where registration of APC members is currently going on, we shall replicate that in Plateau North and in the entire state ahead of 2019.”

Daily Sun gathered that some members of the National Assembly from Plateau State and a former Senator representing Plateau North, are equally under pressure from their constituencies to dump the PDP.

In a swift reaction, Plateau State PDP Chairman and former Minister of Youth and Sport, Hon. Damishi Sango, said PDP will be the party to beat in 2019 and advised those who are defecting from the party to exercise restraint.

In the words of Sango, “As some people are defecting from the party, more are coming in on daily basis; those who are defecting are people that cannot endure hardship, they want to belong to where there is always raining, but I assure you that they will regrate their decision because PDP will bounce back.”
