The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared a seven-day mourning in honour of victims of the recent killings in Plateau State and other parts of the country.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party directed that its flags at all its offices and formation, at all levels, across the country be flown at half-mast beginning from today.

Besides, theopposition party enjoined the people of Plateau State to take President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to the

International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague, for not taking actions to stop endless killings in the country.

“The fundamental duty of government all over the world is the protection of lives and Nigerians can no longer continue

to fold their hands while compatriots are being daily hacked down by marauders,” the party said.

Reacting to the killings, chieftain of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Senator Roland Owie, warned that Nigeria is sliding into total darkness.

He said all men of goodwill in all political parties in Nigeria including the APC” must unite and send President Buhari packing before he destroys this nation.

According to the chairman, National Contact Committee of the ADP, “how can a president of Nigeria look the other way, when the president of Miyetti Allah said that the killings in the Plateau was a reprisal for the loss of 300 cows and as today the president of Miyetti Allah is still walking free on the streets of Nigeria. What does PMB want Nigerians to do? With high unemployment, the people went back to the farm. Now in the farm, cattle and their masters kill them daily.

“They returned home. Now their homes are being destroyed. Let no Nigerian think that he or she
is safe, because they have not reached their community. An Edo parable says, ‘Amengbukpafen, ibaghaghogho, omaren ghoghasegbeogiomwan edovbehe’ (The veranda was happy when the heavy rain was falling on the facial board, but it didn’t realise that the rain will get to the veranda later.’”
