The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled the factional governorship candidate in Osun State, Dotun Babayemi, from the party.

A statement obtained by our correspondent in Osogbo, on Friday, quoted the secretary of PDP in Otun Balogun 2, Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government, Ogunleye Bukayo, as saying that Babayemi has been working against the party.

According to Bukayo, Babayemi organised a parallel governorship primary on 8th Marc, 2022 against the directive of the National Working Committee of the PDP which conducted its primary at Osogbo township stadium where Senator Ademola Adeleke emerged.

He said, “Prince Babayemi had engaged in several legal actions against the party and a series of other anti-party activities. While he had lost his court cases at the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal, he has again instituted legal action against the party at the Supreme Court.

“The Ward Executive Committee of the Party in the exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 57(2) and 59 (1) (g) of the constitution of PDP hereby remove and expel Prince Dotun Babayemi from the Peoples Democratic Party. He, therefore, ceases to be a member of the PDP henceforth,” Bukayo stated.

However, Babayemi has berated the party executives for their actions, saying they are jesters.

The media aide to Babayemi, Kayode Oladeji, said “those who carried out the shenanigans they called the expulsion of Omooba Dotun Babayemi from the PDP, are ignorant of the rules that govern the party. They and their sponsors are only being clever by half in their bid to browbeat Babayemi, a man of the people. They are jesters who enjoy amusing themselves,” he added.
