Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has disclosed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is planning a mega rally for defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) early next month.

Sunday Sun gathered that the rally, which would formally receive APC defectors like the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, would be used by the PDP to showcase the strength of the party ahead the 2019 general elections in the state.

Governor Dickson, who dropped the hint of the rally while receiving two former APC chieftains, Chief Gideon Ekeuwei and Chief Rufus Abadi, expressed happiness that more chieftains of the APC are leaving the party to join hands with the PDP in his quest to build the state.

He seized the opportunity to call on politicians in the state to shun the pull-him-down- syndrome and urged all Bayelsa politicians remaining in APC to leave and join the PDP.

“I welcome you back home to your own party, which we all know that you are a founding member in this state. We are very happy to receive you all. I have been informed that this is a preliminary reception.

“A big rally is planned for next month to receive you and your teeming supporters and to give you all the assurance that PDP is home to all our people.

“For us, politics is about building, not destroying. It is about preserving life, not about killing or taking life, and not about making people miserable.

“If you are in the business of service to men, you are serving God also. We are not perfect but at all times, let it be seen that you are doing your best, trying to advance the well-being of the people of your community and your world. We are indeed happy to receive you.”
