In line with its mandate to ensure  prompt payment of retirement benefits and to provide other pension services through competent and dedicated workforce, the National Pension  Commission (PenCom) has commenced its 2022 online verification and enrolment exercise for retirees and prospective retirees of Federal Government Treasury- Funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS) with a deadline of August 31 deadline.

A statement from the Commission said that only employees of Federal Government Treasury-Funded MDAs scheduled to retire in 2022, and employees of Federal Government Treasury-funded MDAs who missed the enrolment exercises in previous years are eligible for the 2022 online verification and enrolment exercise.

PenCom in the statement, advised retirees and prospective retirees to visit their Pension Funds Administrators (PFAs) and perform its data recapture exercise. This entails retirees and prospective retirees providing their personal details including the National Identity Number (NIN) as a prerequisite for the enrolment.

The Commission gave options for the enrolment thus:  “There are two options. First is the Self-Assisted Option: Here retirees and prospective retirees are required to visit PenCom’s website and upload their employment details as well as scanned copies of required documents before proceeding to their respective PFAs for physical verification and enrolment. The step by step procedure for the Online Enrolment is hosted on the PenCom website.

“The second option is the Pension Desk Officer/PFA-Assisted where retirees and prospective retirees that were unable to complete the online registration for any reason could approach the Pension Desk Officer of their respective MDAs or visit their PFAs for assistance. The Verification and Enrolment by all concerned must be completed on or before 31 August, 2022,” the statement read.
