A former lecturer with Kaduna Polytechnic, Mohammed Garba has appealed to the Executive Secretary of Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to consider paying him and other affected colleagues their pension arrears.

Garba in a press statement on Sunday said he was moved by recent settlement of pension arrears of former Biafran Police by PTAD boss, hence the call on the PTAD boss.

“Former Biafran Police were paid their pension arrears under the leadership of The Executive Secretary of PTAD.

“People from other regions who have pension arrears were not paid for up to fifteen years and tongues are wagging and it is for this reason that I am writing for the attention of  media establishments across the country to help us disabuse the minds of Nigerians of PTAD seemingly sectional policy at the detriment of other Nigerians.

“As a pensioner and also a responsible Nigerian I think PTAD should move fast and pay our arrears so that the billions of naira allegedly stolen, that the former Accountant General of the federation was accused of stealing will not rub off on the Executive Secretary.

“The PTAD boss had long promised last year that she will ensure the payment of all arrears in the first quarter of this year 2022 yet nothing happened and already we are in the last quarter of the year 2022.

“It appears from The Executive Secretaries body language not even 2023 first quarter is certain as the political atmosphere may be used to overshadow the payment issue.

“It is my hope that social responsibility spirit and positive externalities driven judgment of the media will be brought to bear in calling the PTAD boss to also consider the plights of other pensioners”. Garba said.
