Pepsi Football Academy youngsters from all the training centres in Nigeria have converged on Lagos for this year’s Pepsi Festival of Youth, an Under-15 football tournament to end the year. The two day event which started yesterday Wednesday, December 20 at Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos ends today.
According to the Director of Pepsi Football Academy, Chief Kasimawo Laloko, the essence of the programme is to ascertain the level of development of the players across the centres.
“This tournament helps us to assess the level of hard work and commitment by the players and coaches and also know the level of skills development among the youngsters,” said Laloko.
He said the Pepsi Academy Festival of youth in Lagos follows similar competition in different centres in which the players competed with invited clubs in the cities. These include Ibadan, Ilorin, Abuja, Jos amongst others.
Commenting on the 25th anniversary of the Pepsi Academy, Laloko said the foremost academy in Nigeria has contributed immensely in developing the skills of young players who are today playing in different clubs in Nigeria and oversees. He commended Pepsi for the initiative in giving every Nigerian youth the opportunity to train under an organised environment with world class facilities.
