Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Wednesday commiserated with Benue residents over the devastating effects of floods on their communities.
Sharing photos of his visit to Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, on his Twitter page, Obi bemoaned the level of loss of lives and property that the flood had caused residents.
He promised to explore means of alleviating the suffering of the people as a presidential candidate.
The LP standard bearer, wrote “I called on HE Gov. Samuel Ortom to commiserate with him on the ravages of the floods in Benue state resulting in high loss of lives, property and farmlands and massive displacement.”
Informed him of my intent to visit some of the affected areas and discussed how we as presidential candidates can assist affected states.
“I recalled that in 2012 Benue, Anambra and others were similarly affected and the FGN and Nigerians rallied in support of flood victims, especially the IDPs.”
