Sports philanthropist, Deacon Phillip Ayo Adelusi has tipped the Super Eagles  to reach the knockout phase of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Adelusi who spoke in Lagos believes the Super Eagles will join Argentina as the two teams to qualify from the group.
“From what the NFF has done over the matches’ bonus issue which has been adequately agreed upon between players and the Glass House, I sincerely believed we will go beyond our potential second round. Money has always caused distraction in the past World Cup but the NFF has done what is unprecedented in our history, there won’t be competing issues”.
The Director of  Phidel Schools Isheri-Idimu, Lagos  is optmistic that Croatia and Iceland would not pose problem for the Eagles but warned against complacency. He urged the players and technical crew not to be carried away with the recent 4-2 win over Argentina in an international friendly.
“I have a strong belief that we will beat Argentina for the first time in a FIFA World Cup match. They have always been a thorn to us. In 1994, we lost concentration after Samson Siasia exquisite finish was not enough as we went down 2-1. In 2002, we lost in the group stage and cynic continue in 2010 at South Africa. At the last edition, we lost 3-2 at 2014  in Brazil. We need to end this losing streak and I am quite sure our boys we prevail this time around”.
Adelusi, who is the Grand patron of the on – going Lagos Inter Schools Cup wants the Eagles to give their best against Croatia and Iceland.
