…Governor’s security votes included-Commissioner

The Plateau State Government has earmarked about N16. 1 billion for Government House Administration in the 2017 fiscal year.

Commissioner of Finance, Mrs. Tamwakat Weli, disclosed this in Jos during the 2017 budget breakdown and said the amount includes Governor’s security votes.

She said the sum of N1 billion would be expended for the procurement of security equipment and assets and N468. 5 million would be used for the procurement of security equipments for the state security outfit “Operation Rainbow”.

The commissioner revealed that N2 million is earmarked for acquisition of relief materials and rehabilitation for internally displace persons in Riyom and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of the state.

Mrs. Weli informed that N3. 5 billion would be used for acquisition of election materials for the forthcoming local government election in the 17 council areas of the state.

She said government is ready to sack any commissioner or civil servant who is indicted of corruption or anyone found sabotaging government’s  efforts in generating internal revenue for the overall development of the state.

The Commissioner added that present administration will not hesitate to punish anyone who constitute himself as a clog on the wheel of development in the state.

“Government will deal decisively with any citizen both in the public and private sector that try to frustrate it efforts in revenue generation. All hands must be on deck to the payment of our taxes and other obligations to enhance the revenue base of the state.”
