All is set for the Paint Manufacturers’ Association (PMA) Nigeria 2017 Coating show billed to take place in Lagos. The event which will be the fifth edition of PMA’s bi-annual Raw Materials, Equipment and Paints exhibition is intended to showcase the various raw materials used in the production and testing equipment as well as packaging materials used in the production of paints, inks and allied products.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Chairman, PMA, Mr. Rotimi Aluko said the platform will provide manufacturers/suppliers of paints, raw materials/equipment and packaging materials the veritable opportunity for stakeholders in the industry to exchange ideas on current developments on raw materials, equipment and technology for paint manufacturing.
According to Aluko, the 2017 show entitled: “Raw Materials Sourcing for the Coatings Industry’ will have the Director General/Chief Executive of Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Mr. H.B. Ibrahim, as the guest speaker. He said that the Lagos State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Commerce, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye as the special guest will be there to flag off the event.
Other guests expected to grace the event, he said, include:the Director General/Chief Executive of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr. Osita Anthony Aboloma; the Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mr. Segue Ajayi-Katie; representative of the Nigerian Institute of Builders, Association of Housing Corporation of Nigeria, Real Estate Developers and a host of others.
Aluko said: “One of the major challenges faced by members of the association in the last two years was the scarcity/high cost of raw materials, majority of which is not available locally but imported. The theme was therefore, chosen based on this and the importance the federal government attaches to local sourcing/development of raw materials for the industry”.
The Chairman also noted that there will be other speakers who will deliver papers at the conference section of the event on various issues on paint, raw materials, equipment, technology and marketing.
