Two persons have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged abduction and killing of a female student of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.
The suspects, who are now in detention, were alleged to have killed the student for ritual purpose.
Some students of the institution had protested over the alleged killing of one of their colleagues for ritual purpose by some men in the town.
The student, whose name could not be ascertained as at press time, had been declared missing by her friends and students of her department after she was said to have left home and did not return.
Luck ran against her alleged kidnappers after one of them was nabbed in a robbery operation during which it was discovered that he and other suspects were responsible for the kidnap of the missing student.
This, according to the police, led to the arrest of one other suspect, while others are now at large.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the mutilated and decomposing body of the student has been recovered by detectives, who are also grilling the suspects.
Joseph said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation and called on parents to always monitor the movement of the their children.
He said: “We have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of the victim for money ritual. The suspects confessed to mutilating the body of the victim for ritual purposes,” adding that efforts were being intensified to apprehend the other fleeing suspects even as investigation is ongoing.
