The Katsina state Police Command has arrested three suspected ring leaders of illicit drug traffickers in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, has said.
Abduallahi, who made the announcement on Monday in Katsina while briefing newsmen, said the suspects spearheaded the selling and consumption of illicit drugs in the state.
“The command deployed detectives who monitored the activities of the drug kingpins before arresting them,“he said.
He said that large quantity of assorted drugs and some sacks containing some leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered.
The commissioner said that the rate of consumption of illicit drugs in the state was high.
He commended traditional rulers in the state for given the command the support it needed to curtail the activities of drug traffickers.
Abdullahi appealed to the public to always supply the police with information about the activities of drug traffickers in the state.
