No fewer than 56 suspected criminals have been arrested by the police in Ogun State for various offences, ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, cultism, vandalism and impersonation.

Parading the suspects, on Thursday, at the Command headquraters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the suspects were picked up from different locations in the state by the joints efforts of operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Police Mobile Force, conventional policemen as well as the anti kidnapping/cultism units of the force.

According to the CP, the police command will continue to deploy tactical and covert operatives to combat criminals in the state.

Among the paraded suspects, was one Prophet Kehinde Onayiga and his accomplice, Musliu Jubril,  who were nabbed for the kidnapping of 11year old girl for ritual purpose, were among the suspects paraded.

The cleric who was paraded with two fetish ram horns wrapped in red pieces of cloth, was said to have commissioned Jubril to kidnap a virgin girl to be used for ritual purposes for Yahoo Boys.

Though the duo were eventually arrested by the police,  the kidnapped 11 year old victim was nowhere to be found.

But fielding questions from our correspondent, Onayiga, claimed he was a prophet in charge of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Agbotijesu Parish on Waterworks  Road, Sagamu. He, however, denied ever sending Jubril to kidnap anybody.

He said though people visited him for spiritual healings, he vehemently denied having any Yahoo Boy as a client.

The 53 old suspect added he had been a prophet for over 18 years, having earlier trained as an Islamic cleric.

Asked about the fetish objects found in his possession, Onayiga agreed to the ownership of the objects, but claimed he only used them to heal the sick brought to his church.

Jubril, however, insisted that it was Onayiga who asked him to kidnap a virgin to be used for Yahoo Boys.

According to him, Onayiga had promised to pay him a sum of N20,000 if he could help him find the young girl. Apart from the money, the 23 year old said the prophet promised to help him travel overseas.

When asked about the whereabout of the girl, Jubril maintained he handed over the victim to the prophet since July 21.

Another set of suspects paraded were David Olasubomi Fashina and Kelani Olufunke, arrested for impersonation and stealing.

According to the police, Fashina, who was a dismissed civilian driver of an Assistant Commissioner of Police in the command, impersonated as a police officer with a CSP rank, in company of Olufunke, dispossessed a medical doctor of his two phones.
