A 59-year-old man has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly raping a one and a-half-year-old girl.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a press statement.
Wakil said the mother of the victim, Nenkat Danladi, 31, reported to the Yelwan police division on August 9, 2022, at about 7pm. The mother complained that on August 6, 2022, at about 11:30am, she met her neighbour, Alhamdu Yusuf, 59, in the bed with her daughter, Blessing (not real name), aged 1½ years, of the same address.
“After about 30 minutes the nominal complainant discovered that the private part of her daughter was oozing blood. On the recipe of the complaint, a team of DCB personnel, led by DPO Yelwa, rushed the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for medical examination. The suspect was arrested and an investigation commenced in earnest,” the PPRO said.
