The Benue State Police Command has arrested 16 suspects in connection with the murder of a young man, Muhammadu Hudu, and the attack on one Oryima Benjamin, recently.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, Hudu was stabbed to death at Udei Street, North Bank on August 3, while Oryima was attacked few days later along Gboko Road both in Makurdi.

“Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) personnel in separate operations based on intelligence raided various criminal hideouts and arrested 16 persons in Terwase at North Bank and Terwase Agbadu areas of the metropolis.

The CP while parading the suspects, said a locally made and two single barrel guns were recovered from the suspects adding that they would soon be charged to court after investigation on the matter is complete.

Also paraded were two suspected armed robbers, Emmanuel Ugah (22) and Terseer Yough (40) who specialized in the snatching of vehicles at gun point.

Makama disclosed that the two suspects were arrested by policemen on stop and search duty in Gboko town in possession of a red Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 462 FB which was earlier robbed from its owner in Abuja.

But when our correspondent spoke with the suspects, they alleged that a man in Abuja had contracted them to deliver the car to his family in Gboko but regretted that as soon as they were arrested, the man’s phone had been perpetually switched off.
