Eleven suspected members of a terror gang believed to be responsible for numerous cases of criminal attacks in Udu area of Delta State have been arrested by operatives of Eagle Net, a special squad of the state police command.
One of the suspects who were arrested after a fierce gun battle when operatives stormed their hideout in Oghor community in Udu Local Government Area, died after the arrest as a result of gun shot injuries.
Acting Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Bright Edafe who confirmed the arrest in a statement gave the name of the deceased suspect as Igah Aminu (27).
He gave names of other suspects as Henry Ogori (25), Kennedy Akpotu (19), Promise Ophiomo (24), Daniel Believe (19), Daniel Sele (25), Paul Zion (25), Philip Choice (26), Joshua Ogunamen (21), Johnson Opiomo (22) and Joshua God’swill (24), that they have confessed to the crime.
According to him, operatives were hot on the trail of other fleeing suspects who escaped the scene of battle with gun shot injuries.
He said two English made beretta pistols, three rounds of live 9mm caliber of ammunition and six mobile phones were recovered from the arrested suspects.
Meanwhile, Edafe confirmed the killing of another suspect in Oghara by an irate mob for allegedly attempting to rob an indigene of the town of his unregistered motorcycle at gun point.
He said the deceased suspect was a member of three-man gang that waylaid the victim, who escaped and raised alarm that attracted passers-by.
“The DPO Oghara mobilized patrol men to the scene where they met the suspect one Gabriel Igodo ‘m’ 35yrs  already beaten to stupor.
“Suspect was rushed to the hospital where he later died. One short barrel gun with one live cartridge was recovered. Investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects,” he said.
