A hideout where babies are birthed in order to be sold to desperate childless couples has been uncovered in Obodogba community, Okpanam, Oshimili North Government Area of Delta State.

Operatives of the State Investigation Department, who discovered the baby factory, stormed it and rescued three pregnant women.

Two suspects whose role is to get unsuspecting women pregnant were also arrested.

Police spokesperson DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, gave the names of the suspects as Promise Ejogu (25) and Aruna Sulieman (29).

Edafe also confirmed the arrest of 35 suspected in separate raids of two hideouts in Mile 5 and Ibusa, near Asaba.

In the Mile 5 raid, Edafe said a combined team of Raiders Squad, operatives from GRA Division and Area Command Asaba, “stormed the hideout and arrested ten suspects, recovered one fabricated AK47 rifle, charms, fake vigilante ID card, and AC&DC black axe confraternity regalias.”

On the other hand, Edafe stated that operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) and Ibusa Division stormed the initiation ground of the Black Axe confraternity also known as ‘AIYES’ and arrested twenty-five male suspects.

He added that “three Aiye confraternity regalias, one military vest, a pair of Aiye confraternity stockings, three cut-to-size locally made guns, four live cartridges, a gallon of substances suspected to be liquid hard drugs, four vehicles, and four motorcycles” were recovered.

According to Edafe, all the cases were still under investigation.
