The police have confirmed the abduction of a popular petrol dealer in Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammad Jamiu Idris who is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Always Petroleum Energy Services

Jamiu was said to have been abducted on sallah day at his residence in Idare in Okene Local Government Area of the State by men who disguised themselves as visitors who came to pay him Sallah homage.

A family source said shortly after gaining entry into Idris’ house, the men brought out guns and ordered him to follow them.

The source said the kidnappers, who had sophisticated weapons, shot sporadically to scare people who attempted to resist his kidnap.

Idris doubles as the chairman, North Central table Tennis Association. He was said to have been beaten mercilessly before being whisked to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, the state Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying the abductors went to the house shortly after Sallah prayers.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state SP William Aya, told our correspondent that the men were six in number, and dressed in flowing gown “agbada” and pretended to be his friends so as to gain entry into his residence before they pulled out guns and whisked him to an unknown destination.

The PPRO added that the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, had tasked his men to go after the kidnappers, with a view to rescuing the victim and bringing the kidnappers to book.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing in this report the kidnappers were yet to establish any contact with his family for any ransom.
