The Bauchi state Police Command has killed five suspected armed robbers in Zaki Local Government Area of the state who have been terrorising residents of the state

Briefing Newsmen in Bauchi on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Haruna Mohammed, disclosed that the operation was carried out in collaboration with a renown hunter, Ali Kwara on Saturday night.

Mohammed said on that fateful Saturday of March 2, at about 1200hrs,following intelligence report, Ali Kwara in collaboration with Team of Police mobile personnel attached to him raided a criminal hideout in Kunjin/Lodio forest in Bursali district of Zaki LGA of Bauchi State.

Mohammed said that a fierce gun battle ensued between the suspected armed robbers and the team of policemen and Ali Kwara which lasted for more than 30 minutes.

According to the police spokesman, “As a results, five of the suspects were fatally wounded and rushed to Federal medical centre Azare but certified death on arrival by a medical doctor”

He said that exhibits recovered at the scene included four AK 47 rifles with beech numbers (03085)(8067)(19076)and(10968) respectively.

Others are one locally made revolver pistol,164 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, nine rounds of .9mm ammunition, seven empty magazines,two expanded ammunition and N17,000 cash

The police spokesman said all the five unidentified corpses of the armed robbery suspects have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre,sun Azare mortuary for Autopsy while investigation is in progress.
