The police in Kano, yesterday, smashed a four- member gang that specialised in armed robbery, house-breaking and other forms of criminality in the metropolitan area of the State.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano state, Abdulahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrest was sequel to the outcry of the residents of Tishama of Hotoro Quarters in the state capital.

Kiyawa said the suspects included Idris Mohammed, Nasiru Abdulhamid, Sunusi Ibrahim and Bashir Yunusa, all of Tishama in Hotoro Quarters, adding that they have since confessed to being behind a number of robbery incidents in the said area.

He recalled that the arrest was a result of sustained efforts, coupled with intelligence-led surveillance patrol by officers, adding that the suspects would be charged to court in due course.

“A discreet investigation conducted by a team of detectives at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, led by CSP Ahmed Abdullahi, resulted in the arrest of the receiver, 32-year-old Rabi’u Sani of Tishama, Hotoro Quarters Kano. Four Plasma TV sets and 11 mobile phones were recovered from the suspects,” he disclosed.

He commended the officers who participated in the investigation, while reiterating that criminals have no hiding place in the state.

“They are advised to either repent or leave the state completely. Otherwise, they will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law,” her stated.

He urged residents to report any suspicious incidents or movement to the nearest police station.
